BIDEN CONSIDERING TRUMP BORDER POLICY THAT HE ONCE CALLED INHUMANE
The Biden regime is considering reinstating the Trump-era policy of detaining illegal alien families who are caught crossing the border – a policy that he once called “inhumane.”
The details: The NY Times is reporting that Biden regime officials have been meeting with the Department of Homeland Security to reinstate the policy which would see families detained for up to 20 days if caught entering the U.S.
During the 2020 campaign, Biden promised to abolish the family detention system, calling them “inhumane practices.” In June 2020, Biden tweeted:
“Children should be released from ICE detention with their parents immediately. This is pretty simple, and I can’t believe I have to say it: Families belong together.”
How does the system work today? When Biden became president, he followed through on his promises to dismantle the family detention system. Today, if you cross the border with a child, you are given a free cell phone and a court date and released into the United States. But most do not show up for those court dates and disappear.
Why is Biden reversing course? Title 42, the Trump-era border policy which allowed border agents to turn back illegals due to Covid, is set to expire in May 2023 and the Biden regime knows this is going to cause [more] chaos.
Since Biden took office, 6 million illegals have been encountered crossing the border and an estimated 1.2 million were spotted by border agents but got away, bringing the total of illegals to enter the U.S. under Biden to at least 7.2 million.
For perspective, if they were a state, it would be the 15th largest in the country.
It’s worth noting: This policy has not been implemented yet. Democrats are actively trying to push Biden to withdraw from this plan.
