In an episode of the Joe Rogan Experience, Elon Musk, owner of X (formerly Twitter), dropped a bombshell, revealing that Republicans were suppressed on the platform at a staggering rate, ten times higher than Democrats, particularly those with mildly right-leaning views.
Musk, addressing the issue on Rogan’s podcast, highlighted the lack of public awareness regarding the extent to which Twitter operated as an extension of the government. Referring to the recently released Twitter Files from late 2022 through early 2023, Musk likened Twitter to the Soviet news agency Pravda, categorizing it as nothing short of a “state publication.”
According to Musk, the old Twitter was artificially sustained and functioned as a tool of oppression against views that even remotely leaned towards the middle or right side of the spectrum. Musk clarified that this suppression wasn’t limited to far-right perspectives but extended to anything mildly right-wing.
In Musk’s words, “Republicans were suppressed at 10 times the rate of Democrats,” shedding light on the platform’s biased practices that favored one political ideology over another. The revelation adds fuel to the ongoing debate about social media platforms and their potential impact on free speech and political discourse.
