Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed into law the Parent’s Rights in Education bill that the left has falsely smeared as a ‘Don’t Say Gay’ bill. At the signing, DeSantis said:
“We will make sure parents can send their kids to school to get an education, not an indoctrination.”
❎ What the bill isn’t: Contrary to what the left might have you believe, it does not ban the word “gay” in schools. It doesn’t even ban casual discussion of gender in the classroom. And it does not prohibit student LGBTQ clubs and groups.
✅ What the bill is: It prohibits teaching about sexual orientation and gender identity in kindergarten through third grade. Here’s are some additional provisions:
It prohibits schools from withholding information from parents about their children’s physical and mental health.
Parents may sue schools that break the new law.
DeSantis appropriately claims that critics of the bill are: “sexualizing kids in kindergarten… injecting woke gender ideology into second-grade classrooms… enabling schools to ‘transition students to a different gender without the knowledge of the parent, much less without the parents’ consent.”
Hollywood outrage: DeSantis was asked about the push-back from leftist Hollywood stars, and he responded:
“If the people who held up degenerates like Harvey Weinstein as exemplars and as heroes, and as all that, if those are the types of people that are opposing us on parents’ rights, I wear that like a badge of honor.”
Disney has stepped in as the main voice of opposition to the bill. They released a statement saying they “remain committed to supporting the national and state organizations” working to challenge the law in court.
Ask yourself: What kind of adult would be outraged that they can’t teach 5, 6, 7, and 8-year-old kids about sexual orientation and “gender identity”? Groomers. People who want to sexualize your children.
Barring any successful legal challenges, the law will go into effect on July 1.
