FOUR-STAR GENERAL WARNS OF WAR WITH CHINA BY 2025
Four-star Air Force general Mike Minihan issued a memo warning his officers to prepare for war with China within two years.
Who is General Minihan?
He’s a 32-year Air Force Veteran and Head of the Air Mobility Command, overseeing 50,000 service members and 500 aircraft that he is responsible for transporting and refueling for battle.
What his letter said: Gen. Minihan’s concerns are centered around China’s desire to invade and take control of Taiwan. He wrote:
“I hope I am wrong. My gut tells me we will fight in 2025.”
“[Chinese President] Xi secured his third term and set his war council in October 2022. Taiwan’s presidential elections are in 2024 and will offer Xi a reason. United States presidential elections are in 2024 and will offer Xi a distracted America.”
Meanwhile, The Chinese military has been testing its limits on a nearly daily basis, flying into Taiwan’s airspace and waters.
If conflict were to break out between the U.S. and China, here is how both militaries stack up against each other:
Nuclear weapons: USA has 3,708, China has 350
Ships: USA has 484, China has 730
Aircraft carriers: USA has 11, China has 2
Submarines: USA has 68, China has 78
Aircraft: USA has 13,300, China has 3,284
Tanks: USA has 4,400, China has 4,950
Active personnel: USA has 1.39 million, China has 2 million
The Department of Defense tried to downplay his memo saying:
“These comments are not representative of the department’s view on China.”
