The U.S. Marshals in charge of protecting the homes of Supreme Court justices during the protests that followed the overturning of Roe v. Wade last year were told to avoid arresting the out-of-control protestors.

The marshals fall under the jurisdiction of Biden’s Department of Justice.

After the draft opinion of the court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade was leaked, thousands of the most extreme activists descended on the conservative court justice’s homes [with their children inside] in an attempt to intimidate them into changing their vote.

These revelations came during a Senate Appropriations subcommittee hearing, where Sen. Katie Britt shared training materials provided to her by a whistleblower within the Marshals.

Britt pointed to slides that instructed the Marshals to:

“avoid, unless absolutely necessary, any criminal enforcement”
“making arrests and initiating prosecutions was not the goal”

…the bold/italics emphasis on “not” were added by the Marshals, not me.

Were these directions legal?
Section 1507 of the US criminal code says:

Whoever, with the intent of interfering with, obstructing, or impeding the administration of justice, or with the intent of influencing any judge, juror, witness, or court officer, in the discharge of his duty, pickets or parades in or near a building housing a court of the United States… shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both.

This sends a message to extreme political activists that they can try to intimidate a Supreme Court justice and their family in order to pressure them to vote a certain way.
