MISSISSIPPI BANS SEX-CHANGE PROCEDURES FOR MINORS
Mississippi’s governor signed a bill that bans sex-change procedures on minors and punishes doctors who prescribe sex-change drugs to children under 18.
Gov. Tate Reeves signed the ‘Regulate Experimental Adolescent Procedures Act’ which was passed by the state Senate (33-15).
Here’s what the bill outlaws:
gender reassignment surgeries for kids
prescribing and administering puberty-blocking drugs
administering hormone treatment to kids
Penalties for doctors: Any medical professional who is caught breaking this law will have their medical license revoked by the state.
What Americans think: A recent poll found that 78.7% of voters believe underage minors should have to wait until they’re 18 to use puberty blockers or undergo sex-change procedures. (editors note, this I agree with as well)
Gov. Reeves said at the signing: “There is a dangerous movement spreading across America today being pushed onto our children through radical activists, social media, and online influencers” that “threatens our children’s innocence and threatens their health.”
The fight over sex-change procedures for children has become a national issue. In recent months, Florida, South Dakota, Alabama, Arkansas, and [soon] Tennessee have all passed restrictions or bans on sex-change procedures for kids.
Spilling ink at the New York Times: More than 200 New York Times staff members wrote an open letter to the paper, denouncing it for printing articles that made slight criticisms of transgender procedures for kids.
BTW editors note: none of this is transphobic or homophobic as it’s not banning these for good it is instead setting a sensible time frame when you can do it. After all, if you cannot gamble, smoke, drink, etc until you are older do you really think you should allow children to take life-altering drugs and permanently mutilate their bodies?
