President Trump is reviving a conversation that constitutional conservatives have demanded for decades: shrinking the federal bureaucracy. This time, he’s eyeing the bloated, ineffective U.S. Department of Education.

“I don’t think the Education [Department] should be handling the loans,” Trump declared. “That’s not their business.”

He’s not wrong. The Education Department manages loans for more than 40 million Americans—yet it’s also responsible for crafting policy, regulating universities, and now, increasingly, pushing ideological activism. That’s a conflict of interest and a constitutional overreach.

OPINION: From a Constitutionalist standpoint, the federal government was never meant to be a bank, a school board, and an ideological arbiter rolled into one.

Trump is proposing moving loan management to agencies like the Treasury, Commerce, or even the Small Business Administration. Experts point to the Treasury as the most logical option—it already collects debts. But critics argue that moving the system would cause temporary chaos. Well, here’s a question: Isn’t the current system already chaos?

Student Loans: Collections Resume, Garnishment Begins

The Education Department is resuming collection on defaulted loans, starting with Treasury Department offsets and later wage garnishment. This ends a pause started by President Trump in 2020 and extended by Biden until late 2024.

FACTS:

– More than 5.3 million borrowers face immediate risk of default.

– The department will begin clawing back tax refunds, federal salaries, and Social Security payments.

– Wage garnishment, up to 15%, will start after a 30-day warning.

Meanwhile, a new income-driven repayment (IDR) plan is being streamlined—no more annual income recertifications—but it’s unclear how many borrowers this will help in time.

The feds claim they’ll pair garnishments with outreach to help borrowers return to repayment, but let’s be honest: government “help” is often a maze, not a lifeline. When bureaucrats write the rules, people suffer. When unelected regulators wield financial power, liberty loses.

Harvard Sues Trump Administration Over $2.2 Billion Funding Freeze

Harvard University—flush with billions and prestige—has sued the Trump administration after its federal research funding was frozen for defying demands to reform its activist-heavy, antisemitism-plagued campus.

The Trump administration demanded:

– Tougher protest policies

– Faculty audits for ideological diversity

– Admissions policy reforms

– Screening international students for anti-American views

Harvard refused. Trump responded with a funding freeze. Now Harvard is crying foul, calling it a violation of First Amendment rights and Title VI protections.

But let’s be clear: taxpayer money is not a right—it’s a privilege.

White House spokesman Harrison Fields responded:

“The gravy train of federal assistance to institutions like Harvard, which enrich their grossly overpaid bureaucrats with tax dollars from struggling American families is coming to an end.”

OPINION: Harvard’s lawsuit is about maintaining elite privilege, not protecting free speech. When universities shelter antisemitism and suppress conservative speech, they forfeit moral authority—and maybe even federal funds.

The American Council on Education applauded Harvard, but the real question is: who’s applauding the American taxpayer? Who’s defending the Constitution?

He wasn’t talking about battle scars or military medals. No. He was talking about the war that came after—the one where he tried to go to school and got slapped with bills he couldn’t pay.

He said to someone I know: “No one should have to fight that hard just to go to school.”

It wasn’t about handouts. It was about dignity. About fairness. About a government that forgot the very people it was supposed to serve.

Now fast forward to today—and we’re fighting that same kind of war.

No rifles. No bombs.
But economic bullets?

Oh, they’re flying.

Let’s talk about student loans.

Not from the left. Not from the right. But from real life.

👉 Ten years ago, I owed $200,000 in college loans.

Today, because of interest—not anything I borrowed extra—but just interest, that debt is now $260,000.

FYI: My degrees weren’t in something like Egyptian Underwater Basket Weaving Ballet—they were in Information Technology. You know, the field we were all told was “in high demand” and “the future.”

Yeah… surprise. Not so much.

Now let’s stop right there. Before you throw around words like “irresponsible” or “handout” … let me ask you something:

How the HELL do you expect someone to climb out of that when the game is rigged?

The truth is, I haven’t been able to pay it. Not because I don’t want to. But because I CANNOT.

1. I can’t afford to.

2. I can’t find a job that justifies that debt.

3. I can’t play a game that’s already stacked against me.

And let me just say this to the people out there whining about student debt relief:

Boo Hoo to you, bitches.

Yeah, I said it.

You had no issue with Trump looking into student loan forgiveness. NONE.

In fact, many of you cheered him for it. But the moment Biden or Harris talked about it, suddenly it was “socialism” and “vote buying”?

Give me a break.

This party line garbage is getting old, and it’s dividing us where we should be united.

Let me hit you with some truth:

– Trump talked about loan relief.

– COVID checks? Most of you cashed them.

– Ukraine? BILLIONS. Gone. With bipartisan approval.

– And the IRS? They added 86,000 agents under Biden to hunt down YOUR income.

So, when the government finally throws us a bone and tries to ease the burden of interest—not even the principal, just the interest—they act like it’s some massive crime. Well guess what? That interest? It’s fake money. Never real. Never owed. Just numbers designed to keep you enslaved.

This relief isn’t costing you more in taxes—it’s just erasing interest that shouldn’t have been there in the first place.

And FYI: I voted for Trump and NOT for Biden. Let’s be clear.

But I’m damn sure going to call out a system that penalizes Americans for trying to better themselves.

Because the system is broken.

Kaplan College? University of Phoenix? Many Others… Yeah, the government should go after them and wipe those debts. A for-profit scam that pumped up tuition, handed out degrees, and did NOTHING to help students get jobs. I didn’t just take out loans—I was defrauded. The system failed ME. It failed MILLIONS.

And Republicans… we should be LEADING this conversation. Not blocking it.

You want to talk “America First”? Well, start with AMERICANS.

We bailed out the banks. We bailed out auto companies. We bailed out airlines. We’re bailing out Ukraine, Israel, and everyone in between.

But the moment we talk about bailing out students?

CRICKETS. Or worse—CONDEMNATION.

Where’s that same energy for the real grifters? Where’s the outrage over $32 trillion in national debt—most of which has nothing to do with the American people?

And don’t give me the “I paid my loans” argument. So did I—for years. It barely touched the balance. You want a medal for paying off a predatory loan? Fine. But don’t pull the ladder up behind you.

Let me also remind you:

Student loan debt isn’t a “leftist” issue. It’s a middle-class issue. A working-class issue. And yes—a Republican issue.

We’ve got a country with:

– A tanking job market

– DEI hiring filters

– HR departments blackballing conservatives

– Illegals flooding the system

– Inflation eating away paychecks

…and people have the gall to say “just get a job” to solve $260k in loans?

Get real.

Let’s be honest: If Republicans keep acting like compassion is a weakness and economic relief is socialism, we’re going to lose voters. Not because they love Democrats. But because we look like we’re out of touch.

This is about freedom. The freedom to move forward. The freedom to live without financial shackles. The freedom to build a life.

We talk about “liberty” all the time on the right—but what about economic liberty?

So, here’s my plea:

📣 Stop fighting each other and start fighting for each other.
