Did you know that both Thomas Jefferson and John Adams died on the anniversary of American independence? These two founding fathers, who played pivotal roles in the creation of our nation, passed away on the same day in 1826, marking the 50-year anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Both Jefferson and Adams were instrumental in shaping the principles of our Constitutional Republic. Notably, they were the only signers of the Declaration to later become presidents.
The 4th of July is more than just a day for fireworks and barbecues. It symbolizes the birth of our nation and the enduring spirit of liberty that defines America. The Declaration of Independence, adopted in 1776, was a bold assertion of the colonies’ right to self-governance, breaking free from British rule. This historic document, primarily penned by Jefferson, articulated the fundamental rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, laying the groundwork for the freedoms we cherish.
As a Constitutionalist for Liberty, I have long referred to this time of year as American Pride Month. This designation underscores the significance of our nation’s founding principles and the importance of celebrating our history. The month of July holds a special place in American hearts as we reflect on the sacrifices made by our forefathers and the enduring legacy of the freedoms they secured.
The influence of Jefferson and Adams extends beyond their presidency. Jefferson’s vision for a nation of independent, self-reliant citizens and Adams’ commitment to justice and the rule of law continue to inspire. Their deaths on such a symbolic date serve as a reminder of their dedication to the cause of American liberty.
As we celebrate American Pride Month, it’s essential to remember the broader historical context of our independence. The Revolutionary War, fought from 1775 to 1783, was a monumental struggle that saw ordinary colonists rise against the might of the British Empire. The victory at Yorktown, aided by French allies, was a decisive moment that cemented our path to sovereignty.
The legacy of the 4th of July is a testament to the resilience and determination of the American people. It is a day to honor not just the founding fathers, but all who have fought to preserve our freedoms. As we look to the future, let us continue to uphold the values of liberty, justice, and democracy that define our Constitutional Republic.
In this light, American Pride Month is an opportunity to reflect on our nation’s history, celebrate our achievements, and recommit to the principles that make America exceptional. The stories of Jefferson and Adams, along with countless others who have contributed to our nation’s greatness, remind us of the enduring power of the American spirit.

The Star-Spangled Banner A Testament to American Resilience
On September 14, 1814, Francis Scott Key penned the poem that would later evolve into our beloved national anthem, The Star-Spangled Banner. https://www.spreaker.com/user/9922149/the-star-spangled-banner-a-testament-to-
