Despite assertions from the Biden administration and mainstream media outlets, evidence suggests that noncitizens are actively participating in U.S. elections, with a notable inclination towards supporting Democratic candidates. The prevalence of noncitizen voting, often facilitated by lapses in election oversight or government-sponsored registration initiatives, has emerged as a contentious issue, particularly in light of recent legal proceedings in North Carolina.
In a series of criminal cases concerning ballots cast by immigrants in North Carolina’s 2016 election, federal prosecutors have uncovered alarming statistics regarding noncitizen voting patterns. The data reveals a significant disparity, with noncitizens favoring Democratic candidates over Republicans by a three-to-one ratio. These individuals collectively cast 99 ballots across multiple elections spanning back to 1996, predominantly participating in federal races and sparingly engaging in local contests.
Notably, scrutiny has been directed towards election officials, with suggestions that registrations of noncitizens were facilitated based on anticipated political leanings. A federal attorney involved in prosecuting many of the North Carolina cases indicated instances where noncitizens’ voter registrations were expedited upon expressing support for Democratic nominees. In one striking example, a noncitizen’s registration was reportedly accepted only after signaling intent to vote for Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election.
Among those charged with illegal voting, Eloy Alberto Zayas-Berrier’s case stands out. Zayas, a participant in the Mariel boatlift of 1980, has resided in the United States for decades. In 2016, he presented his government-issued work permit at an early voting location in North Carolina, where he was permitted to register as a Democrat and cast a ballot.
The issue extends beyond North Carolina, as demonstrated by a recent incident in South Carolina, where a noncitizen received multiple voter registration forms following interactions with the state’s Medicaid office during the application process for public assistance.
The revelation of noncitizen voting trends underscores the importance of safeguarding the integrity of our Constitutional Republic’s electoral processes. As concerns persist regarding the impact of such voting practices on the democratic fabric of our nation, the need for vigilant oversight and enforcement measures becomes increasingly apparent.
