Betrayal Unveiled as Republicans Align with Democrats to Extend Deep State Surveillance
In a stunning move, House Republicans have sided with Democrats, disregarding the concerns of their constituents, to prolong the intelligence agencies’ mass warrantless surveillance program with absolutely no reforms.
The extension of Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) effectively greenlights the government’s ability to spy on American citizens without obtaining a warrant, a direct contradiction to the principles of personal privacy that many Republicans claim to champion.
The House lawmakers voted 310-118 to pass the National Defense Authorization Act, a decision laden with contentious elements:
– A 3% increase in defense spending, ballooning to a staggering $886 billion.
– No provisions to eliminate divisive and intrusive DE&I policies.
– No provisions to halt the controversial practice of providing taxpayer-funded transgender surgeries.
– An extension of FISA through April, perpetuating a tool that has been weaponized against American citizens.
FISA has a notorious history, notably serving as the instrument through which the corrupt FBI, under the Obama administration, conducted surveillance on Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign. Earlier this year, a court uncovered alarming details, revealing that the FBI had abused FISA to illegally spy on American citizens a shocking 278,000 times between 2016 and 2020.
Representative Chip Roy highlights a critical aspect: though the FISA extension is ostensibly until April, the language within the bill allows its use “for up to a year after any authorization expires,” essentially re-authorizing it for the next 16 months.
This move is nothing short of a major betrayal, a departure from the values and promises that Republicans claim to uphold. The revelation is particularly disheartening, especially considering that Speaker Mike Johnson, who had been given a generous benefit of the doubt, appears to have played a pivotal role in this decision. To add fuel to the fire, reports have surfaced of Speaker Johnson strolling through the Capitol in the company of former Speaker-turned-rabid RINO Paul Ryan, intensifying concerns among party loyalists.
The fate of the bill now rests in the hands of Joe Biden, who is anticipated to sign it into law, further cementing a compromise that could have severe implications for individual liberties and the principles that the Republican party purports to defend.
Here’s a list of every House Republican who voted for this abomination, provided by Rogan “DC Draino” O’Handly on X (formerly Twitter).
