And lo and behold, the political patronage paid off handsomely. Just a month later, Dish Network was handed a cushy $50 million grant from the Biden administration to bolster its 5G expansion endeavors. Coincidence? You be the judge.
Not content with mere financial favors, the Biden Justice Department quickly sprang into action, reportedly leaning on Vermont Telephone to settle matters in a manner favorable to Dish. The company’s lead attorney, Bennett Ross, didn’t mince words, accusing the DOJ of attempting to strong-arm an “unethical settlement.”
Zooming out, Ross underscored the broader pattern, highlighting a troubling trend of a “two-tiered justice system” where the politically connected get preferential treatment, while the rest are left to fend for themselves.
