Biden Family’s Foreign Payments Raise Questions
During Vice President Joe Biden’s tenure, his family reportedly received more than $20 million in foreign payments, originating from various sources including Russia, Ukraine, and Kazakhstan. This disclosure comes as a result of an investigation conducted by the GOP-led House Oversight Committee, which delved into alleged corruption involving the Biden family and examined subpoenaed bank records.
It’s worth noting that Joe Biden has repeatedly asserted that he never discussed his son’s overseas business dealings. However, recent testimony from Hunter Biden’s business partner, Devon Archer, contradicts this claim, revealing that Biden had conversed with their foreign associates on multiple occasions and even shared meals with them.
The House Oversight Committee recently issued a memorandum outlining the findings of its investigation, which include:
– Identifying over $20 million in payments from foreign sources to the Biden family and their business associates.
– Observing that Hunter Biden received payments with unclear origins, raising concerns about the transparency of these transactions.
– Noting a $3.5 million transfer from Russian oligarch Yelena Baturina to Hunter’s company, Rosemont Seneca, in February 2014.
– Highlighting a meeting between Hunter Biden and Kazakhstani oligarch Kenes Rakishev, followed by a $142,300 wire transfer to Rosemont Seneca and a subsequent payment by Hunter for a sportscar of the same amount.
House Oversight Chairman James Comer expressed concerns that Hunter Biden’s association with his father was leveraged to gain access to influential networks, suggesting that the payments may have been made for reasons beyond tangible services.
In response to these revelations, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has called for Joe Biden to release his bank records to the Oversight Committee for further scrutiny.
These developments underscore the ongoing discussions surrounding ethical considerations and transparency in dealings involving political figures and their families.
