BREAKING DOWN THE J6 COMMITTEE SUBPOENA OF TRUMP

The January 6th Committee voted unanimously to subpoena former President Donald Trump to testify under oath about the Capitol riot.

Reminder, this is a corrupt committee: Typically on House committees, you have representation from both parties to ensure it’s fair and balanced. On this “committee” you have 7 Democrats and 2 infamous never-Trumpers, Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger, both of whom were hand selected by Nancy Pelosi.

Rep. Liz Cheney, the lame-duck Republican who just lost her House seat in the Wyoming primary, had this to say:

“The central cause of Jan. 6 was one man, Donald Trump, who many others followed. President Trump had a premeditated plan to declare that the election was fraudulent and stolen before Election Day.”

…to this day, after 16 months of investigations, countless hearings, subpoenas of phone records, e-mail records, and hours of forced testimonies – they still have zero evidence that Trump had anything to do with the violence on January 6.

What do they want to ask Trump?

According to the committee, they need Trump’s testimony in order to paint a complete picture of what took place on January 6.

What are Trump’s options?

I’ll lay them out in order of [what I see as] least likely to most likely:

Trump agrees and answers their questions
Trump agrees and asserts his Fifth Amendment rights
Trump refuses to comply
Trump challenges the subpoena in court

Separation of powers: Trump’s basis for challenging the subpoena would be the separation of powers between the three co-equal branches of government [Executive, Legislative, and Judicial].

If Republicans take control of the House in the midterm elections, they will disband the committee on day one. And with it will go Trump’s subpoena. That’s why I think it’s most likely he issues a legal challenge – delaying his testimony until after the election.

Big picture: Ask yourself: Why did the J6 committee wait until now to issue this subpoena?

Because it’s all about steering the media narrative away from the failures of Joe Biden and the Democrat party with the midterm elections in November 2022.
