CHINA PROPOSES RUSSIA PEACE PLAN AS ZELENSKYY SNUBS 100 BILLION IN US AID
Zelenskyy snubs $100 billion in U.S. aid, wants to meet with China
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says would like to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping after China put forward a 12-point peace plan between Ukraine and Russia.
The United States has given Ukraine roughly $100 billion in weapons and aid since the war began. Now Zelenskyy wants to play footsie with China, the United States’ number one geopolitical enemy.
Not a good look…
Speaking to reporters in Kyiv, Zelenskyy said: “I believe that the fact that China started talking about Ukraine is not bad. But the question is what follows the words. The question is in the steps and where they will lead to.”
China’s 12-point plan: China released its intentionally vague plan on the one-year anniversary of the war, stating that “there are no winners in conflict wars” and warning that “all parties should maintain rationality and restraint.”

Respecting the sovereignty of all countries (it does not specify who has sovereignty over the disputed regions)
Abandoning the Cold War mentality
Ceasing hostilities
Resuming peace talks
Resolving the humanitarian crisis
Protecting civilians and prisoners of war
Keeping nuclear power plants safe
Reducing strategic risks
Facilitating grain exports
Stopping unilateral sanctions
Keeping industrial and supply chains stable
Promoting post-conflict reconstruction
China claims to be a natural party, but it’s important to remember that it released this plan two days after Xi’s senior foreign policy advisor met with Putin in Moscow.
The West’s reaction to China’s plan has been understandably unimpressed:
Joe Biden said that if Putin was “applauding it, how could it be any good?”
NATO’s Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said the plan didn’t have “much credibility.”
Here’s the real talk: The war in Ukraine needs to end and we want to see peace negotiated. But China’s plan is a joke, not a peace agreement. The fact that Zelenskyy is entertaining Xi is a slap in the face to the United States and the Western nations it so badly wants to ally with.
