David Muir’s Ratings Plummet After Anti-Trump Bias During Debate

David Muir, the lead anchor of ABC’s *World News Tonight*, has found himself in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. Following a recent presidential debate, Muir’s ratings took a significant nosedive. Once averaging 7.6 million viewers, his show now draws an average of 6.7 million — a staggering 12% drop. This decline in viewership appears to be linked to his overt bias during the debate, where he, alongside co-moderator Linsey Davis, stopped to fact-check Donald Trump five times but offered no corrections for Kamala Harris, even when she repeated long-debunked claims such as the “Charlottesville hoax.”

Trump’s Response

Former President Trump responded by pointing out Muir’s selective fact-checking, telling Fox News: “Every one of [Kamala’s lies] should have been questioned by David Muir. I’ve lost a lot of respect for him. Everyone’s lost respect for him. It was so… one-sided. It was one against three.” Trump wasn’t alone in his criticism. Many viewers felt that Muir failed in his role as an unbiased moderator, allowing Harris to escape scrutiny while targeting Trump.

Linsey Davis also revealed in a post-debate interview that their treatment of Trump was influenced by the previous CNN debate, which led to Biden’s withdrawal from the race. Despite the significant drop in ratings, David Muir’s show remains the most-watched evening news program, underscoring the deep divide in how many Americans receive their news from networks that show clear bias. ABC News, owned by Disney, faces increasing criticism from viewers for failing to offer balanced, factual reporting, especially in times of critical national conversations. It’s clear that even long-standing news anchors can lose credibility when they let bias overtake their role as impartial reporters.

Israel Remotely Detonates Thousands of Hezbollah Pagers

In a groundbreaking military operation, Israel remotely detonated thousands of pagers carried by Hezbollah operatives, resulting in the deaths of at least 12 individuals and over 4,000 injuries across Lebanon. Hezbollah, an Islamist terror organization backed by Iran, operates under the guise of a political group but has been labeled a terrorist organization by the United States since 1997.

The Explosion of Hezbollah’s Pagers

At around 3:30 PM, pagers across Lebanon, mostly concentrated in the suburbs of the capital city Beirut, began to beep and flash a series of numbers before exploding. Reports indicate that at least 5,000 pagers were detonated simultaneously. The explosions reached the highest echelons of Hezbollah, even injuring Iran’s ambassador, Mojtaba Amani.

The use of pagers by Hezbollah, instead of cell phones, reflects their concern that their communications could be monitored by Israel. These pagers were recently distributed to replace older models, which may explain how Israel successfully infiltrated their supply chain. According to Osher Assor, an Israeli cybersecurity expert, it’s believed that Israel implanted pentaerythritol tetranitrate, a highly explosive material, into the pagers before remotely detonating them.

“The moment the specific message arrived, the devices were activated,” Assor explained. “This is unprecedented — both the size and the scale — we haven’t seen something like that before.”

Kamala Harris’s Generic Approach to Israel’s Conflict

This event comes on the heels of Vice President Kamala Harris’s refusal to stray from her scripted response when asked about the Israel-Hamas-Hezbollah conflict. Harris’s insistence on simply repeating that “we need to get this peace deal done” has been criticized as disconnected from the harsh realities in the region. With such large-scale incidents as this, it’s clear that the conflict requires a more informed and decisive stance from U.S. leadership.
