Does Disagreement Equal Hate? Or Is It Just the New Political Weapon?
The LGBTQ Community, Religion, and the Trap of Political Violence
Once upon a time, a conversation about marriage, faith, and politics didn’t automatically collapse into accusations of hate. Today, however, too often when someone says they believe in marriage between a man and a woman, it’s immediately treated as an attack on the LGBTQ community. That is a dangerous oversimplification. Disagreement does not equal bigotry.
Separation of Faith and Law
In America, religious people are free to hold traditional views of marriage. The Constitution guarantees them that right. At the same time, civil law must remain equal for all, regardless of faith. As long as church and state remain separate, there is no threat to the LGBTQ community. The true danger comes only when religious doctrine is allowed to override constitutional rights. Evangelical overreach into government is where the wall of separation must hold firm.
Christians are not the enemy. LGBTQ Americans are not the enemy. The Republic only thrives when we recognize each other, protect liberty equally, and keep America’s Constitution as the standard by which laws are made.
The Charlie Kirk Divide
Many on the left despised Charlie Kirk’s words about the LGBTQ community. Yet research into his record reveals something different: Kirk was no homophobe. He openly celebrated Richard Grenell’s global push to decriminalize homosexuality. He welcomed gay conservatives into Turning Point events. He even challenged a gay conservative in a viral clip, saying, “Why do you need to label yourself a gay conservative? Why not just be an American?”
That’s a fair question, even if one disagrees. Identity labels, Christian conservative, black conservative, gay conservative, do serve a purpose. They show diversity within political movements. But Kirk’s point was about unity: that American identity should come before faction.
I didn’t agree with everything Charlie Kirk ever said. But disagreement is not the same as hate. It is tragic that his death is now being celebrated by voices on the far left. That celebration, that glee in violence, exposes something darker than any of Kirk’s words ever did.
The Violence Trap
Let’s be clear: extremism exists on both sides. The alt-right has its own twisted fringes. But when it comes to glorifying violence, it is too often the far left that openly cheers for bloodshed. Calls for assassination, applause for political murder, these are not acts of justice. They are acts of hatred. And they drag America closer to the abyss.
This does not excuse right-wing violence, which must also be condemned. But the point is that the disease is bipartisan. Violence is not the cure to division. It is the proof of division.
The Path Forward
The harsh reality for all of us, gay, straight, left, right, is that America cannot survive if we keep feeding the fire. The Constitutional Republic depends on vigilance, on calling out extremism whether it wears a red hat, waves a rainbow flag, or does both as Gays for Trump or Gays for Liberty.
We are not going to make America great by celebrating deaths, silencing debate, or letting emotion override reason. We will only save this nation if we choose the Constitution over chaos, liberty over identity, and truth over mob rule.
Is Hate the New Virtue?

The truth is ugly: too many in politics now treat hate as a badge of honor. The left cheers when conservatives are silenced or killed. The right rages when the left tries to force its dogmas into law. Meanwhile, the Republic suffers.
Disagreement is not hate. Belief is not bigotry. And violence is not justice. If we forget that, then both sides become slaves to the very demons they claim to fight.
It’s time to remember who we are, not gay America, not Christian America, not conservative America, not liberal America. We are the United States of America. And unless we start acting like it, we will lose more than Charlie Kirk. We will lose the Republic itself.
