Elon Musk tried to fight for Trump’s privacy against Biden DOJ
Elon Musk tried to fight the Biden Department of Justice when it issued a search warrant for access to former President Donald Trump’s private X [formerly Twitter] account.
Here are the three things you need to know:
1. The warrant: Biden’s attack dog, special counsel Jack Smith executed the warrant this past spring, seeking full access to Trump’s account, messages, and deleted tweets. The warrant also included a gag order preventing X from informing Trump about the warrant.
2. Musk and X object: The social media company initially objected to the warrant, arguing the unusual gag order violated the First Amendment since it would have prevented them from notifying Trump.
3. DOJ escalates and X concedes: Musk’s delay in complying with the DOJ warrant resulted in a $350,000 fine by a federal judge. After the fine, X complied with both the warrant and gag order.
If the Department of “Justice” is secretly looking through the social media accounts of a former United States President, just imagine what they’d do to you and me.
