ELON RELEASES THE TWITTER FILES
Twitter CEO Elon Musk released the ‘Twitter Files’
internal company e-mails and documents that show the big tech company:
knew it had no legal or policy basis to censor the New York Post’s Hunter Biden laptop story.
regularly took censorship requests from the [then] Biden campaign.
The details: Musk tweeted “What really happened with the Hunter Biden story suppression by Twitter will be published on Twitter at 5pm ET!”
The files were then released via a Twitter thread from Independent journalist Matt Taibbi.
The files showed high-ranking executives working to censor news about Biden family corruption in the days leading up to the 2020 election.
Three key takeaways…
1️⃣ Censoring for the Biden campaign: Taibbi writes “By 2020, requests from connected actors to delete tweets were routine.”
He then shares a screenshot of an internal e-mail about censorship requests from the Biden campaign that reads: “More to review from the Biden team:” with links to five tweets.
Another Twitter employee responds: “Handled these”
The accounts were suspended.
2️⃣ Censoring the Hunter Biden laptop story: Taibbi writes “Twitter took extraordinary steps to suppress the story, removing links and posting warnings that it may be “unsafe.” They even blocked its transmission via direct message, a tool hitherto reserved for extreme cases, e.g. child pornography.”
He continues: “The decision was made at the highest levels of the company, but without the knowledge of CEO Jack Dorsey, with former head of legal, policy and trust Vijaya Gadde playing a key role.”
You may remember Vijaya as the woman who made the decision to ban President Trump from Twitter while he was still in office.
The Biden regime later rewarded her by appointing her to advise the Department of Homeland Security on combatting “disinformation” on social media…
3️⃣ “Lessons of 2016”: Taibbi shares one e-mail exchange where Twitter’s Head of Trust & Safety, Yoel Roth says:
“Given SEVERE risks here and lessons of 2016, we’re erring on the side of including a warning and preventing this content from being amplified.”
“Lessons of 2016” likely refers to the leak of the Democratic National Committee (DNC)’s e-mails during the lead-up to the 2016 election. The e-mails showed how the DNC colluded with Hillary Clinton’s campaign to push her ahead of Bernie Sanders.
Trump used this story to show the Clintons were corrupt. And it sounds like Yoel Roth was afraid he’d use the Hunter Biden laptop story to do the same.
Big picture: 17% of Joe Biden’s 2020 voters said they would not have voted for him had they known the facts about Hunter’s laptop. That would have swung the election for Trump.
What happens next: Rep. James Comer, who will lead the House Oversight Committee when the GOP officially takes control in January, promises investigations:
“Every employee at Twitter who was involved in suppressing the Hunter Biden laptop story will have an opportunity to come before Congress and explain their actions to the American people.”
Musk indicated these documents are just the tip of the iceberg and that there is more to come.
