Is this war or just defending America’s security?

Donald Trump captures Maduro and breaks the left’s narrative

The explosions heard over Caracas did not signal the beginning of a new American war. They marked the collapse of a long-maintained illusion.

U.S. forces carried out a coordinated strike inside Venezuela that resulted in the capture of Nicolás Maduro and senior regime figures. The operation targeted strategic military and cartel-linked infrastructure tied to narco trafficking networks that have fueled regional instability and directly impacted American security for years. President Donald Trump confirmed Maduro was taken into custody and removed from Venezuelan soil. No U.S. fatalities were reported.

Predictably, the immediate reaction from political opponents and international critics was hysteria. Claims of unconstitutional action, war crimes, and imperial overreach flooded media channels before the facts were even fully known. But those claims rest on a false premise: that this was the start of a new war rather than the continuation of a long-running conflict, which the political class has refused to name honestly.

The United States has been engaged for decades in a fight against transnational drug cartels and narco terror organizations operating across Latin America. These groups are not conventional criminals. They control territory, maintain armed forces, traffic humans and weapons, launder billions of dollars, and poison American communities with fentanyl and other drugs. Venezuela under Maduro became a central hub for that activity. U.S. indictments, sanctions, and intelligence assessments have consistently stated this for years.

This was not nation-building. This was not a regime change driven by ideology. This was a targeted action against a hostile actor presiding over a failed narco state that directly threatens U.S. national security.

Trump did not campaign on isolationism or pacifism. He campaigned on ending endless wars that drain American lives and treasure without clear objectives, while restoring deterrence and enforcing sovereignty. Those positions are not contradictory. Ending pointless wars does not mean tolerating active threats. It means confronting them decisively instead of managing them indefinitely.

Legally, the constitutional argument against the operation collapses under scrutiny. Article II of the Constitution designates the president as commander in chief. Every modern president has exercised that authority to conduct military actions without prior congressional declarations of war. Airstrikes, raids, captures, and counterterror operations have been routine under administrations from both parties. The sudden discovery of constitutional outrage now is selective and political.

Claims that the action constitutes a war crime are equally hollow. War crimes require specific violations of international la,w such as targeting civilians or using prohibited weapons. None of those standards apply here. Targeting hostile leadership and infrastructure tied to transnational criminal organizations is not novel and is not illegal. If it were, then nearly every president of the last half-century would be guilty by the same definition.

International reaction has been mixed. Some governments condemned the operation as a violation of sovereignty. Others quietly welcomed the removal of a destabilizing figure whose regime drove millions of refugees across the region. That division underscores the uncomfortable truth: stability for corrupt regimes often matters more to international institutions than justice or security for citizens.

What this moment really exposes is not a constitutional crisis but a psychological one. A political culture that has grown accustomed to pretending threats can be managed by rhetoric alone now recoils when force is used decisively. Comfort has replaced clarity. Process has replaced outcomes. And pretending danger is theoretical has become easier than acknowledging reality.

Is America defending itself, or are we still addicted to pretending nothing is wrong?

#GoRight with Peter Boykin Commentary

Let’s stop lying to ourselves.

The United States did not wake up one morning and decide to start a new war because Donald Trump felt impulsive. This country has been under sustained attack from transnational criminal networks for years. They flood our streets with fentanyl. They traffic children. They corrupt governments. They exploit weak borders. They kill Americans every single day. The only thing new here is the refusal to look away.

For decades, leaders have played a dangerous game of euphemisms. We called it law enforcement when it was warfare. We called it diplomacy when it was appeasement. We called it stability when it was surrender. And every year, the problem grew worse because pretending felt safer than acting.

What happened in Venezuela shattered that illusion.

People keep asking whether this violates Trump’s promise not to start new wars. That question misunderstands the promise. Trump did not promise weakness. He promised clarity. He promised to stop sending Americans to die in conflicts with no mission, no endpoint, and no benefit to national security. He did not promise to ignore enemies while they poison the country.

The Constitution does not require the president to ask permission to defend the nation from ongoing threats. It requires him to do his job. Commander-in-Chief is not a ceremonial title. It is a responsibility. And responsibility sometimes means making decisions that make comfortable people uncomfortable.

What we are really watching is the collapse of the shrug. The belief that if danger is normalized enough, it stops being urgent. The belief that as long as violence happens somewhere else or through indirect means, we do not have to confront it honestly. That belief has hollowed out our sense of sovereignty.

This is not about left versus right. This is about whether a Constitutional Republic still understands the difference between restraint and paralysis. Liberty does not survive on denial. Peace does not come from pretending enemies are misunderstood. Security does not emerge from process worship.

Trump’s critics say this sets a dangerous precedent. They are right about one thing. It sets a precedent that threats will be treated as real. That sovereignty matters. That borders mean something. That narco states are not immune from consequences just because dealing with them is politically inconvenient.

The world is not safe. It never was. The question is whether America will continue pretending it is or whether it will finally act like a nation that intends to survive.

That is the real divide. And no amount of selective outrage will change it.

Is this war, or is it the United States finally defending itself?

President Donald Trump confirms the capture of Venezuelan strongman Nicolás Maduro following a targeted U.S. military operation. Critics immediately cry “war crime” and constitutional violation, but the facts tell a different story. This is not a new war. It is the continuation of a long-running fight against narco terror networks that have flooded America with fentanyl, trafficked humans, and destabilized an entire region.

In this #GoRight with Peter Boykin episode, we break down what actually happened in Venezuela, why the Constitution supports decisive action against ongoing threats, and how years of pretending cartel warfare was just “crime” led us here. This is a constitutional analysis, not partisan hysteria.

Watch, share, and decide for yourself whether America should defend its sovereignty or keep pretending the danger is manageable.
