JOE BIDEN PUT SOMEONE IN JAIL FOR SHARING A MEME
A man named Douglas Mackay has been found guilty of election interference for posting a meme on Twitter during the 2016 election.
Mackay was a pro-Trump, self-described “American nationalist” with over 50,000 followers on Twitter, where he went by the moniker “Ricky Vaughn.”
In 2016 Mackay jokingly posted a meme on Twitter, encouraging Hillary Clinton voters to cast their vote by text:
“Avoid the line. Vote from home. Text ‘Hillary’ to 59925”
The charges: The Department of Justice alleged Mackey carried out a “scheme to deprive individuals of their constitutional right to vote.”
Mackey argued that he was simply trying to create a viral, funny meme. He also pointed out that Democrats were circulating similar memes, but were not facing penalties for it.
The Department of Justice was not able to find a single voter who claimed they were deprived of their right to vote due to Mackay’s tweet.
The verdict: A New York City federal court found Mackay guilty of conspiring to deprive Hillary supporters of their right to vote. His sentencing is scheduled for August 16, and he could face up to 10 years in prison. His lawyer says they plan to appeal the ruling.
You might be wondering… Why does the title of this article blame Biden for putting Mackay in jail? Because despite this happening in 2016, the Department of Justice didn’t arrest him until January 27, 2021… One week after Joe Biden became president.
That’s not a coincidence.
