While Americans were busy enjoying Thanksgiving, the Biden regime snuck in a new policy that will lift some restrictions on pumping oil in socialist Venezuela.

The details: The Treasury Department announced that it would allow California-based oil company Chevron to pump out of oil fields in Venezuela.

This gives Chevron the ability to revive its existing oil projects in Venezuela for the next 6 months.

It’s estimated this could create 300,000 barrels of oil per day in the short term.

In return, Venezuela agreed to implement a roughly $3 billion humanitarian relief program using previously frozen international funds + it agrees to continue talks with a U.S. coalition about making sure their 2024 elections are free and fair.

Back up: This reverses restrictions that Trump put in place, cracking down on American companies working with the authoritarian regime – an attempt to drive Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro out of power.

Big picture: While the Biden regime claims this move is to “support the restoration of democracy in Venezuela”… It’s very obvious that this is an attempt to bring down gas prices, which currently sit at a $3.55 national average, over a dollar more than when Biden took office.

The GOP response: Rep. Claudia Tenney tweeted:

“The Biden administration should allow American energy producers to unleash DOMESTIC production instead of begging dictators for oil.”
