Body of Obama’s personal chef found near the former president’s Martha’s Vineyard estate
The deceased body of Barack Obama’s personal chef was found in a pond near the 44th president’s Martha’s Vineyard estate.
Massachusetts police received a call from the Obama residence to inform them that Tafari Campbell, 45, appeared to have drowned while paddleboarding in Edgartown Great Pond near the former president’s multi-million dollar mansion.
Police said:
“A male paddle boarder who had gone into the water appeared to briefly struggle to stay on the surface, and then submerged and did not resurface… Another paddle boarder was on the pond with him at the time and observed him go under the water.”
Body recovered: Police recovered his body in the 8-foot-deep pond, roughly 100 feet from the shore.
Campbell was a sous chef at the White House during Obama’s presidency then went on to become the family’s personal chef once they left office.
The Obamas were not at the property during the time of the accident but released a statement saying: “Tafari was a beloved part of our family… Today we join everyone who knew and loved Tafari — especially his wife Sherise and their twin boys, Xavier and Savin — in grieving the loss of a truly wonderful man.”
