Republicans Secure Impeachment Victory Against Mayorkas Over Southern Border Chaos
Republicans in the House of Representatives achieved a historic feat by successfully impeaching Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. The charges levied against him center on allegations of enabling the invasion at the southern border, where an estimated 10 million illegal aliens have entered the U.S. under the watch of Joe Biden and Mayorkas.
In a dramatic turn of events, Republicans faced initial setbacks in their impeachment efforts. Last week’s attempt saw a stalemate, with several absent representatives and three defectors—Reps. Buck, McClintock, and Gallagher—voting with Democrats. The political battlefield seemed uncertain.
However, the tide turned as Rep. Steve Scalise, who had bravely battled and defeated cancer, made a triumphant return to D.C. His crucial vote provided Republicans with the razor-thin majority needed to secure Mayorkas’ impeachment. The final vote count stood at 214 in favor and 213 against.
The charges brought against Mayorkas include “willful and systemic refusal to comply with the law” and “breach of public trust.” This landmark impeachment marks the first instance of a cabinet secretary facing such consequences since 1876, adding a significant historical context to the proceedings.
As the dust settles, the implications of this impeachment resonate beyond the confines of party lines. The southern border crisis, a focal point of contention, has propelled Mayorkas into the center of a storm that goes beyond mere policy disagreements. The House’s decisive action signifies a response to what Republicans perceive as a dire breach of duty, reinforcing their commitment to upholding the rule of law and protecting the nation’s security.
The last word goes to Rep. Lauren Boebert, who wrote on X: “His open-borders policies have led to ACTUAL death and destruction within our country. It is now incumbent upon the Senate to take this up and remove this man from office. He has NO place in our government.”

Democrat Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has already stated he does not plan to bring this forward.
