CNN had a man named David Urban on their ‘State of the Union’ show for a segment about the East Palestine, Ohio train derailment. But they didn’t tell the audience that Urban spent 10 years as a lobbyist for Norfork Southern, the company whose train derailed.

This all started when a Norfork Southern train derailed in East Palestine, spilling roughly a million pounds of dangerous chemicals. Norfork then conducted a “controlled” burn of the chemicals that has led to thousands of dead animals and fears by residents of long-term health damage.

Urban’s connection to Norfork Southern: Before joining CNN, he was president of the American Continental Group until 2020. During his time there, he lobbied for Norfork Southern and his company was paid $1.14 million by the rail company between 2009 and 2020.

…all of this sounds like relevant information that the audience should know about when hearing his opinion, right?

During the segment, Urban told the panel: “There’s plenty of blame to go around on this, on these kind — when these kinds of things happen. But what’s important is what we do moving forward, right, to take care of the people in these towns and communities.”
