Biden Agrees to Debate Trump but Demands Special Rules

In a significant development, President Joe Biden has agreed to debate former President Donald Trump, but not without setting a range of conditions.

President Biden issued the challenge in a brief 14-second video posted on social media, saying, “Make my day, pal.” Observers noted that the video appeared to require five edits for Biden to complete his statement. You can watch for yourself and spot the cuts.

Former President Trump quickly responded on Truth Social, writing, “Just tell me when, I’ll be there. ‘Let’s get ready to Rumble!!!’”

Despite Biden’s public challenge, Trump has been urging Biden to debate for months, daring him to meet “anyplace, anytime.”

Time and Place: The first debate is scheduled for June 27, hosted by CNN. The second will take place on September 10, hosted by ABC News.

Biden’s Stipulations: Biden’s campaign has laid out several conditions for the debates:

– No live audience.
– Candidates’ microphones to be muted when it isn’t their turn.
– Reduce the number of debates from three to two.
– Schedule the debates earlier in the election cycle.
– Only debate on networks perceived as favorable to Democrats.

Public Opinion: Prior to Biden’s challenge, a Fox News poll asked voters their views on a candidate skipping debates. An overwhelming 72% indicated that it would be a sign of “weakness.”
