Federal agents searched Democratic Congresswoman Ilhan Omar’s Washington-area residence Monday morning, placing one of President Donald Trump’s most outspoken political opponents at the center of a developing criminal investigation.

Meanwhile, Trump faces growing Republican opposition to his Russian diesel agreement, questions about a proposed Ukraine ceasefire, and mounting pressure ahead of the November midterm elections.

A Federal Search, But No Conviction

The Department of Justice confirmed that Homeland Security Investigations executed a judicially authorized search warrant at Omar’s residence as part of an ongoing criminal investigation.

CBS News reported that sources familiar with the investigation identified immigration paperwork as its focus. However, federal officials have not publicly detailed the evidence or announced criminal charges against Omar.

Omar called the search politically motivated and said she would not be silenced. Trump denied directing the investigation.

The distinction matters. A search warrant authorizes investigators to gather evidence. It does not establish guilt.

White House Watch: Trump Faces Pushback from His Own Party

Trump’s decision to temporarily permit certain Russian diesel transactions has created an unusual bipartisan confrontation.

Seven senators, including four Republicans, called for the administration to reverse course, arguing that the arrangement conflicts with federal restrictions on Russian energy imports.

Trump defended the decision as necessary to address high fuel prices. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent maintained that the administration has the legal authority to proceed.

Trump also claimed that Russia and Ukraine had agreed to an energy ceasefire. However, neither side had confirmed an implemented agreement, and Ukraine reported continuing Russian attacks.

The administration’s challenge is straightforward: lower energy costs without undermining American security interests or congressional authority.

What the Right Is Covering: Republicans Have Three Weeks

With the November 3 midterms approaching, Republicans face a difficult political environment.

Trump is campaigning for Republican candidates, including Ohio Senator Jon Husted, while conservative organizers emphasize turnout and early voting.

Economic concerns remain central. High energy costs, dissatisfaction with living expenses, and the continuing Iran conflict are weighing on the political landscape.

Meanwhile, deadly Houthi attacks against Riyadh’s international airport have increased concerns about further Middle Eastern escalation.

The question for Republicans is whether they can convince voters that their policies are producing results before Election Day.

New Laws and Court Moves: Constitutional Limits Matter

A federal judge has temporarily blocked remaining taxpayer-funded advertisements promoting Trump’s political agenda while litigation continues over the use of public money.

Separately, the Justice Department is investigating whether major television networks violated antitrust laws through coordinated decisions involving White House press coverage.

Neither dispute establishes wrongdoing simply because the government has raised allegations.

These cases involve fundamental questions about government spending, press freedom, executive authority, and the proper limits of federal power.

The Constitution Is Bigger Than Any Political Party

I support strong borders, election integrity, affordable energy, national security, and holding government officials accountable.

But I also believe something that should never change depending on who occupies the White House.

The Constitution applies to everybody.

If Ilhan Omar broke federal law, investigate it and prove the case. But political disagreement is not evidence of criminal wrongdoing.

If Trump can lower diesel prices, that is good for American families. But we should not sacrifice our strategic leverage or ignore congressional law to accomplish it.

If television networks violate antitrust laws, enforce those laws. But government cannot use investigations simply to punish unfavorable reporting.

And Republicans need to understand that winning elections is not the ultimate objective. Protecting liberty, strengthening the economy, and delivering responsible government are what make those victories worthwhile.

We are a Constitutional Republic, not a government of unlimited presidential authority.

Strong borders. Strong civil liberties. Peace through strength. Accountability without political exceptions.

That is the America worth defending.

That is how we Go Right.
