House Investigation into January 6 Gains Momentum under Rep. Loudermilk’s Leadership
Rep. Barry Loudermilk, R-Ga., chairman of the House Administration Committee’s Oversight Subcommittee, revealed that the House investigation into the events of January 6, 2021, is entering a “new phase” with the support of House Speaker Mike Johnson. Loudermilk emphasized the committee’s commitment to bringing “just the facts of what happened” to the public.
The investigation aims to understand the security failures that allowed individuals to breach the Capitol. Loudermilk raised questions about the previous House Select Committee, criticizing its alleged bias and selective use of evidence to push a narrative implicating Trump and Republicans in orchestrating the attacks.
While emphasizing the importance of transparency, Loudermilk clarified, “I’m not here to vindicate anyone, but we want the truth to prevail.”
With the 2024 presidential election approaching, Loudermilk highlighted the significance of informing the public. He questioned the optics and events surrounding January 6, including a Biden campaign commercial featuring images of a gallows erected on the day of the attack.
Loudermilk’s investigation focuses on the security failure that allowed the breach. He highlighted the abundance of intelligence indicating an impending attack, yet questioned why this information did not reach the necessary authorities. Loudermilk is exploring whether there was intentional suppression or incompetence leading to a cover-up.
Additionally, Loudermilk mentioned intelligence indicating federal agents embedded in the crowd, expressing concerns about the actions of plainclothes law enforcement officers.
In addressing the House Select Committee’s accusations, Loudermilk claimed he was “falsely accused” of providing reconnaissance tours of the Capitol. He criticized the committee’s handling of evidence, citing a lack of cataloging and categorization when information was handed over.
Loudermilk asserted the investigation’s non-biased approach and emphasized the public’s right to know the truth of what happened on January 6. As the inquiry progresses, Loudermilk anticipates unveiling evidence regarding the National Guard’s deployment and Trump’s awareness of the attack.
This update sheds light on the evolving investigation, underscoring Rep. Loudermilk’s dedication to uncovering the truth behind the events of January 6, 2021.
