Ilhan Omar Thrown Out Of Foreign Affairs Committee
Republicans in the House voted to remove Rep. Ilhan Omar from her seat on the House Foreign Affairs Committee due to her documented history of antisemitism.
Kevin McCarthy followed through on a big promise he made during his campaign to become Speaker, and brought a vote to the floor to remove Omar.
The vote war right along party lines:
Yay: 218 [all Republican]
Nay: 211 [all Democrat]
Three Republicans didn’t vote and one, Rep. Dave Joyce, voted “present.”
Ilhan’s history of hateful rhetoric: Speaker McCarthy ran through the list of bigoted and hateful remarks made by Omar over the years, including:
Downplaying the 9/11 terrorist attacks that killed thousands of Americans as: “Some people did something…”
She’s used antisemitic tropes, claiming Israel has “hypnotized the world” and later said it was “It’s all about the Benjamins baby” when Republicans oppose her criticisms of Israel.
A little over a year ago she compared the U.S. and Israel to terrorist organizations, the Taliban and Hamas.
Speaker McCarthy made sure to emphasize that he was “not removing her from other committees. We just do not believe when it comes to foreign affairs, especially the responsibility of that position around the world with the comments that you make. She shouldn’t serve there.”
Rep. AOC responded with a wild, and over-the-top speech on the House floor, where she flailed her arms, tossed a binder on the floor, and claimed the Republicans were “targeting women of color.”
Ironically if there was any racism going on, it was from AOC, who started using a southern black accent during her speech. TPUSA’s Charlie Kirk appropriately described it as “rhetorical black face.”
AOC has been criticized for doing this in the past.

For what it’s worth: Typically we would not support removing someone from committees for their speech. We think that’s an issue between the hateful person and the people who elect them.
BUT… This is a precedent that was set by Democrats in the last Congress when they removed Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene from her committee assignments over her speech.
The only way to stop Democrats from doing it is to show them that they will face the same outcomes when we’re in power.
