The Hashtag That Exposed More Than a Target
When a hashtag like #DeportHarrySisson starts trending, it says more about our culture than the person it targets.
Harry Sisson, a 21-year-old Democrat activist known for his viral pro-Biden videos, found himself at the center of a social media firestorm. Thousands demanded his deportation, even though he’s an American citizen.
It started as mockery, but it quickly mutated into something darker: a public pile-on dripping with hate, slurs, and personal attacks fueled by outrage and identity warfare.
And while Sisson’s content often parrots establishment talking points, the real story here isn’t about his politics, it’s about the dangerous game being played with free speech, citizenship, and hate.
Political Puppets and the Price of Influence
Harry Sisson isn’t just another college kid with opinions. He’s a product of the modern influencer-political complex, a pipeline where activist voices are curated, polished, and amplified with financial backing. Sisson is no innocent player in the political game, his well-polished content and suspiciously synchronized messaging have raised fair questions about who’s funding his activism, what unfolded online revealed something much more disturbing about both sides of our political spectrum.
Reports suggest that young digital activists like Sisson often receive guidance or support from Democrat-aligned political action committees and media strategists. They’re not organic voices rising from passion, they’re carefully crafted marketing tools in the culture war, designed to provoke outrage and clicks.
But before conservatives point fingers too quickly, we have to acknowledge that this influencer warfare runs in both directions. Outrage pays, and the algorithm rewards division far more than it rewards truth. In this ecosystem, sincerity is an afterthought. Everyone’s a pawn, and the audience is the prize.
The Campaign to “Deport” Harry Sisson: What They’re Really Trying to Do
The movement rallying behind “Deport Harry Sisson” is more than a moment of online trolling. It’s a deliberate campaign to delegitimize a young political influencer by using misinformation and mob shaming as weapons.
On X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, the hashtag surged after Sisson criticized conservative policies and foreign policy stances. Users began circulating claims that he had “only lived in America for five years,” that he was “born abroad,” and therefore didn’t belong in American political discourse.
One viral post falsely claimed:
“Harry Sisson has only lived in America for 5 years. You weren’t born here, you weren’t educated here, you didn’t move here until you were 16, and you’re not an American!”
In reality, Sisson has confirmed he is a U.S. citizen by birth, explaining that his parents were Americans living abroad and that his citizenship is fully legitimate. Despite this, the online mob continued to brand him an “outsider,” attempting to strip away his voice by questioning his right to speak as an American.
This is more than rumor-mongering. It’s a modern form of digital exile.
The campaign isn’t about immigration or national security; it’s about silencing someone because of his opinions. It’s an effort to cast dissenting speech as foreign or dangerous, echoing the same tactics authoritarians use to silence critics.
And here’s the irony: it’s being done in the name of patriotism.
If we allow social media mobs to weaponize citizenship against people for their political beliefs, we’re setting a precedent that could easily be turned on conservatives, Christians, or gay activists who step out of line next.
For those of us in Gays for Trump, this hits close to home. We know what it’s like to be attacked, dismissed, and dehumanized simply for daring to exist outside the left’s political plantation. But we also know what it’s like to be targeted from the right, and that’s the part too many people ignore.
When the Right Mirrors the Left’s Hate
As the founder of Gays for Trump, I have seen both sides of political intolerance up close.
I have fought the left’s cancel culture, media manipulation, and the weaponization of identity to silence dissent. But what hits even harder is watching people on my own side, those who claim to stand for freedom and faith, sling homophobic insults the moment they see a gay person speaking their mind.
I have watched conservatives fall into the same trap that we criticize the left for. We condemn their identity politics while sometimes engaging in our own, using faith as a shield for hate or fear disguised as moral conviction. And that is where the real hypocrisy lies.
I disagree with Harry Sisson on nearly every political issue. But I will never condone the disgusting names and slurs hurled at him by people calling themselves “MAGA.” That kind of behavior doesn’t make you a patriot. It makes you a hypocrite. Because freedom of speech is meaningless if we only defend it for people we like.
Running Gays for Trump, a coalition of thousands of proud, right-leaning gay Americans, I fight an uphill battle every single day. Not against the left, but against the perception that conservatives hate people like us. It’s hard to convince someone trapped in the Democrat identity plantation that they can find real freedom in conservative values when our own side sometimes feeds their fears.
When gay conservatives step forward and say, “We’re here, we’re proud, and we support President Trump,” we’re not asking for special treatment. We’re asking for recognition that liberty belongs to everyone. Yet too often, instead of unity, we’re met with silence or ridicule.
The truth is, intolerance doesn’t care what color your flag is or which side you vote for. It infects anyone who lets anger outweigh understanding. The left claims to fight hate while targeting those who disagree, and the right claims to defend freedom while sometimes refusing to extend it to people who are different.
That contradiction must end if we truly want to restore the heart of this Constitutional Republic.
We cannot stand for faith and freedom while mocking those who live differently. We cannot wave the flag of liberty while denying it to others.
Conservatism is not about exclusion; it is about preserving the values that make freedom possible. That means standing for the Constitution, for the First Amendment, and for the dignity of every citizen, whether they are straight, gay, Christian, atheist, or anything in between.
If we want to win hearts, we must first keep our humanity. Because in the end, we don’t win by silencing others. We win by proving that our principles are strong enough to protect everyone, even those who disagree with us.
That is what it truly means to Go Right, not just politically, but morally.
Freedom Means Responsibility

Let’s be honest, it’s time someone said it out loud.
If a person today used the same level of hate, mockery, or name-calling against a Black American, a Jewish American, or an immigrant, they’d be condemned, canceled, and erased from public life.
But when that same venom is directed toward gay people, somehow it’s tolerated.
And not just tolerated, it’s often celebrated when it’s aimed at the “right target.”
When it’s a gay liberal activist like Harry Sisson, the mob laughs and joins in.
When it’s a gay conservative like me or the thousands who stand proudly in Gays for Trump, the silence is deafening, or worse, the hate comes from within our own supposed movement.
That’s the uncomfortable truth about American politics right now.
Hate against gays has become the last socially acceptable prejudice.
The far left weaponized sexuality and gender to manipulate identity politics into chaos, and I’ve fought that insanity head-on, even managing not to stereotype, generalize, or scapegoat all the T and Q along with it. But that doesn’t excuse what I see too often from the right: people using that chaos as a cover to unleash their own hatred and bigotry. Let’s call it what it is, cowardice. Moral relativism dressed in red or blue.
If you truly stand for constitutional liberty, then that liberty doesn’t stop where someone else’s love begins.
Freedom isn’t just about protecting the people who think, speak, or worship like you.
It’s about defending the rights of those who don’t.
Because the Second Amendment means nothing if the First Amendment doesn’t apply equally to the pastor, the protester, the atheist, and yes, the gay couple who just want to live free without being vilified.
We’re supposed to be the side of faith, freedom, and individual rights, not mob cruelty.
You can’t hold the Constitution in one hand and throw stones with the other.
That’s not conservatism.
That’s corruption of the spirit.
Freedom of religion means you can live by your beliefs, and I’ll defend that right.
But that same freedom means others can live by theirs, or by none at all.
That’s what makes our Constitutional Republic the greatest experiment in human liberty ever created.
If we truly want to rebuild America’s moral center, we have to lead by example, not mirror the hate we claim to oppose.
Because the moment we justify cruelty in our own ranks, we become the very darkness we claim to fight.
“We can’t claim to defend freedom if we cheer when it’s taken from someone we dislike.”
Whether it’s Harry Sisson, a conservative gay activist like myself Peter Boykin, Scott Presler, or Brandon Straka, or anyone else caught in the crossfire of online hate, the mission isn’t to destroy people, it’s to expose hypocrisy, defend truth, and remind America what real freedom looks like.
That’s what it means to Go Right, not just politically, but morally.
To stand where truth and courage meet.
To show the world that faith and freedom aren’t enemies, they’re the foundation of who we are.
So let’s stop cheering hate and start leading with conviction.
Because the true measure of a free nation isn’t how loudly we can shout,
It’s how boldly we can stand for what’s right, even when it’s not popular.
