A federal judge approved former President Donald Trump’s request to have a ‘special master’ appointed to audit all of the documents seized by the FBI during their unprecedented raid on Mar-a-Lago.

A ‘special master’ is a third-party [often a retired judge] without bias who would review the seized materials and determine what documents the FBI has no right to keep.

Back up: After Trump’s legal team requested the special master, the Biden Department of Justice argued that a special master was not necessary. Because the FBI are such good, trustworthy people…

Dive deeper: U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon delivered her decision, saying:

“The Court hereby authorizes the appointment of a special master to review the seized property for personal items and documents and potentially privileged material subject to claims of attorney-client and/or executive privilege.”

That’s not all. The judge also mandated the FBI’s halt its investigation while the independent review takes place.

But wait, there’s more.

In a major rebuke to the Biden DOJ, the judge asserted that Trump not only had the right to assert attorney-client privilege over documents stolen by the FBI, but he could also assert executive privilege over material conversations with his aides.

The DOJ had argued that Trump had no right to executive privilege.

FBI goes fishing: Judge Cannon revealed that in their unprecedented raid, the FBI scooped up documents way outside their scope like:

40 years of Trump’s medical records

Trump’s tax information

Personal accounting documents

…so when CNN reports that they obtained leaked medical or tax records, you know exactly where they came from.
