PARTISAN COMMITTEE CLAIMS TRUMP ENGAGED IN ‘CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY’

Left-wing media is running wild with this story and 99% of the coverage is very misleading. So let’s clear some things up…

Nancy Pelosi’s partisan ‘January 6th Committee’ claimed in a court filing on Wednesday that President Trump and his associates committed crimes in an attempt to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.

In the court filing, they claim to have:

“a good-faith basis for concluding that the President and members of his Campaign engaged in a criminal conspiracy to defraud the United States.”

Big misconception: Because of the way the media is framing this story, you may have thought that the committee was filing criminal charges against Trump and his associates.

They’re not. They can’t.

Why can’t Congress charge Trump? Congress does not have the power to bring criminal charges. All they can do is make a referral to the Justice Department.

So what’s actually going on?

The J6 Committee wants access to emails between Trump and his lawyer, John Eastman. Eastman was advising Trump on the legal options he could take to contest the results of the 2020 election.
Since Eastman has claimed attorney-client privilege, the J6 Committee needs to claim criminal activity to get around that privilege.

This brings us to the reality: J6 Committee is suing for access to those e-mails. And in their suit, they’re alleging criminal activity.
They’re not charging anyone with criminal activity.

And it’s all because they want to violate attorney-client privilege to pursue their witch hunt.
