THE ABORTION POLL THAT DEMOCRATS DONT WANT YOU TO SEE

A recent poll by Harvard/Harris undermines the Democrat, pro-abortion narrative that most of the country supports abortions-on-demand.

The poll was conducted between June 28-29, 2022 – after the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.

The problem with most polls on abortion is that they ask blanket questions like “Do you support Roe v Wade?” or “Are you pro-abortion?” But they never dig into the nuance below the surface questions.

The Harvard/Harris broke this trend…

▪️ Do you support overturning Roe v. Wade. [This is the typical question you see cited on left-wing news]:

45% support

55% oppose

▪️ Do you support allowing abortion up until the point of birth: 10% support

▪️ Do you support banning abortion after 15 weeks: 72% support

▪️ Do you support banning abortion after 6 weeks: 49% support

▪️ Do you support banning abortion, except for cases of rape and incest: 37% support

▪️ Which institutions should decide on abortion law:

States: 44%

Congress: 31%

Supreme Court: 25%

▪️ When asked if the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe would affect how they vote:

36% say it influenced them to vote GOP in midterms

36% say it influenced them to vote Democrat in midterms

…so the idea that Democrats can ride this issue into the midterms is probably bunk.

Big picture: This is not the black and white issue Democrats want to paint it as and Americans mostly oppose the abortion-on-demand model they are advocating for. Republicans should highlight that difference by reminding voters that Democrats are pushing for laws that allow an 8 month, 29-day-old baby inside the womb to be literally ripped limb from limb. Paint that picture.
