Let’s rip the bandaid right off… There was no red wave. That disappointment you feel – it’s warranted. I feel it too.

But the game isn’t over. There are victories from last night to celebrate. And there are races, still undecided, to be won.

The biggest loss of the night for Republicans was in the Pennsylvania Senate race where Dr. Oz was defeated by John Fetterman. This was for the seat previously held by Republican Pat Toomey, who is retiring. Oz was a terrible choice.

Honorable mention for biggest loss goes to Doug Mastriano, also in Pennsylvania, who lost to incumbent Democrat Josh Shapiro by double digits.

The biggest win of the night has to be the entire state of Florida. Ron DeSantis won by almost 20%, including winning Miami-Dade County, a traditionally blue stronghold. Senator Marco Rubio retained his seat by almost 20% too. And Republicans gained 4 seats in the House.

The second biggest win of the night comes to us from Ohio where J.D. Vance beat out Democrat Tim Ryan by a wide margin. Vance was part of a contentious primary election but was pushed over the top by former President Trump’s endorsement.

It’s also worth mentioning that Democrats Stacey Abrams and Beto O’Rourke both lost their races for Governor against Republicans Brian Kemp and Greg Abbott.

GRASSROOTS WORKS: There was a lot of ground work that was laid in FL, GA, OH, TX, and even VA that clearly shows that aggressive grassroots outreach by the GOP that does work and can either flip seats or close the gap. The GOP needs to replicate this kind of ground work in traditional Blue states like CA, OR, CO, NY, and WA.

The blame game: There’s a ton of finger-pointing going on across the GOP on who’s to blame for fumbling what could have been a huge night. We’ll get into that later this week. For now, we’re focused on the results.
