The Southern Border Betrayal as Senate’s Bipartisan Bill Sparks Outrage
A purportedly bipartisan effort in the Senate has unveiled a controversial border “security” bill, drawing sharp criticism from conservative circles as a surrender of national sovereignty and a misallocation of funds toward foreign interests.
The Hefty Price Tag:
The 370-page bill, spearheaded by Republican Senator James Lankford, Democrat Senator Chris Murphy, and Independent Senator Kirsten Synema, comes with a staggering $118 billion price tag. This allocation includes $60 billion for Ukraine, $14 billion for Israel, $10 billion for Gaza humanitarian aid, and $20 billion for border security efforts.
Troubling Provisions:
Among the bill’s contentious provisions are:
- Amnesty for 1.8 million illegals annually, allowing the Biden administration to turn a blind eye to an influx of up to 5,000 illegal entries per week, totaling 1,850,000 per year.
- Immediate work authorizations for illegal aliens, potentially flooding the labor market and undercutting wages for American workers.
- Continuation of catch-and-release policies, excluding families and minors, which have been exploited by human traffickers and criminal cartels.
Republican Speaker of the House Mike Johnson has declared the bill “dead on arrival” in the House, signaling strong opposition even if it clears the Senate. However, Democrats may leverage its introduction to paint Republicans as obstructionists in addressing border issues.
Democratic Senator Chris Murphy inadvertently revealed the bill’s true intentions, acknowledging that “the border never closes,” hinting at an agenda prioritizing an influx of migrants over securing national borders.
As the debate intensifies, the bill’s fate remains uncertain, leaving Americans concerned about the erosion of border security and the prioritization of foreign interests over domestic concerns.
