World Safety Starts Here In America First
In considering President Joe Biden’s recent push for increased spending to support Israel and Ukraine, I, as a candidate running for Lt Governor in North Carolina, find myself critiquing the approach with a nuanced perspective. While I understand the aspiration for the U.S. to be the protector of the free world, practical constraints dictate that we cannot take on every global challenge without repercussions.
I question the allocation of resources to Ukraine and the potential pursuit of actions against Iran. In my view, Iran poses a more significant threat than Russia, and I believe it would be more prudent to invest in changing this situation. However, I also recognize the challenges posed by Iran’s leadership, which I perceive as having an evil nature, leading to a perpetual cycle of ensuring they do not grow too powerful.
In comparison, my concern with Russia is rooted in preventing them from feeling they can expand beyond their governed territories by taking over other countries. It’s not a stance against helping other nations, but rather a calculated approach to avoid enabling aggressive expansions.
For me, the principle of putting “America First” is of utmost importance. I stress the significance of safeguarding our nation’s interests and preventing potential decline due to overextension. The argument is that resources may have been wasted, especially in the case of Ukraine, and I question the wisdom of further engagements.
Moreover, it’s crucial for the United States to maintain a balanced budget, ensuring that we spend within our means without putting more stress on the wallets of our citizens who are already struggling. As a candidate for Lt Governor, I believe that state governments, including North Carolina, need to work harder to be prepared for any local, national, or international emergencies. This begins with ensuring that North Carolina has a budget that works for its citizens, allowing for effective response and resilience in the face of unforeseen challenges.
