AOC UNDER INVESTIGATION

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez [AOC] is under investigation by the House Ethics Committee but the reason why is unknown.

Here’s what we know: The Ethics Committee released a statement saying they are going to “extend the matter regarding Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, which was transmitted to the Committee by the Office of Congressional Ethics on June 23, 2022.”

“Extend the matter” is the congressional equivalent of an indictment.

What did she do to get herself in trouble?

We don’t know exactly. But it could be connected to her attendance at the MET Gala in 2021, where she accepted free tickets [worth over $30,000] and a free “Tax The Rich” dress – both of which are against House rules.

House members are allowed to accept free tickets to charitable events, but the MET Gala tickets are controlled by the for-profit company Conde Nast.

Tables at the event are controlled by other for-profit companies.

So if AOC’s table was gifted by a company like Facebook or Google, you can see how there would be a conflict of interest.

Now what?

The House will announce what actions it plans to take in 2023 [when Republicans have control].
