The Biden regime announced it would be appointing a special counsel to investigate former President Trump’s handling of documents with classified markings, which he allegedly kept at his Mar-a-Lago estate after leaving the White House.

Back up: The announcement came just three days after Trump announced his bid to run for President in 2024.

Big picture: You now have a sitting president [Biden] appointing a special counsel to investigate his political opponent [Trump].

This is truly unprecedented.

The details: Biden’s Attorney General Merrick Garland made the announcement, saying it was “in the public interest to appoint a special counsel” in order to avoid a conflict of interest [lol].

Garland appointed Jack Smith, who currently prosecutes war crimes at The Hague. where the United Nations has its international court.

Smith is not a political independent.

Remember when the IRS was targeting conservative groups under the Obama administration?

Jack Smith was a key player in that corruption.

Trump responded to the announcement of a special counsel by saying he will not cooperate with any investigation:

“I have been going through this for six years—for six years I have been going through this, and I am not going to go through it anymore.”

He rightly noted, “every other president took records, and [the DOJ] didn’t do anything about it.”

‘Friday afternoon news dump’: The regime announced this decision on a late Friday while Americans were busy heading into the weekend.

This is what you call a “Friday afternoon news dump.”

Whenever the swamp has to announce something that Americans will find despicable, they do it on Friday afternoon so it flies under the radar.

To sum it up: Mike Davis, who is president of the Article III Project and a former cleck for Justice Neil Gorsuch put it best:

“By appointing a special counsel to investigate his boss’s political enemy, Attorney General Merrick Garland continues to politicize and weaponize the Biden Justice Department — all while Garland ignores smoking-gun evidence of Biden’s foreign corruption.”
