The Fireworks Fade but the Republic Still Needs Us
The saddest sound on America’s 250th birthday was not silence.
It was the sound of Americans deciding they could not celebrate their own country because someone they disliked might also be standing under the same flag.
July 4, 2026, marked 250 years since the Declaration of Independence announced that America would no longer live as a subject of a king, but as a nation built on liberty, rights, representation, and self-government. That is not a small birthday. That is not just another holiday weekend. That is a once-in-a-generation milestone.
And yet, this 250th birthday felt different.
Back in 1976, America celebrated its 200th birthday after Vietnam, Watergate, distrust, inflation, and political exhaustion. The country was not perfect then. The people were divided then too. But the Bicentennial still carried a spirit of national renewal. The Smithsonian held a twelve-week Bicentennial Festival of American Folklife. The National Air and Space Museum opened on the National Mall days before July 4. President Gerald Ford went to Valley Forge, Independence Hall, and New York Harbor as the country tried to remember that America had survived hard seasons before.
In 1976, the message was not that America had no problems. The message was that America was still worth celebrating.
That is what 2026 should have been too.
Washington, D.C. hosted major 250th birthday events on the National Mall, including the Great American State Fair, the Salute to America celebration, fireworks, flyovers, performances, and public gatherings meant to honor the nation’s past and future.
That should have been packed from end to end.
Yes, the heat was brutal. The D.C. parade was canceled because of extreme temperatures, and the Great American State Fair was temporarily disrupted after heat-related medical emergencies. Safety matters. Nobody should risk their life for a parade.
But heat was not the only thing hanging over this birthday.
America is hot in another way too. Hot with anger. Hot with suspicion. Hot with political hatred. Hot with people who cannot separate love of country from their hatred of a party, a president, a movement, a neighbor, or a news channel.
That is the tragedy.
The flag does not belong to one party. The Declaration of Independence does not belong to one administration. The Fourth of July does not belong to Democrats, Republicans, conservatives, liberals, MAGA, Never Trump, or anyone else.
It belongs to the American people.
And if we are so divided that we cannot even show up for the 250th birthday of the nation that gives us the right to argue, protest, vote, speak, worship, write, criticize, organize, and live free, then we have a bigger problem than politics.
We have a heart problem.
America’s founders were not perfect men, but they planted an idea bigger than themselves. The idea was that rights come from God, not government. The idea was that government answers to the people, not the other way around. The idea was that liberty is worth the struggle.
That struggle did not end in 1776. It did not end in 1976. It did not end tonight with fireworks over Washington.
Tomorrow, July 5, the fireworks will be gone. The stages will come down. The crowds will leave. The flags will be folded. The social media fights will move on to the next outrage.
But America will still be here.
The question is whether we will be.
Not just physically here, but morally here. Spiritually here. Civically here. Willing to live like free people instead of permanently angry people.
Because a birthday is not only a celebration of what was born. It is a reminder that what was born must still be cared for.
The Alarm After the Fireworks

I want to say this as quickly and respectfully as I can.
A lot of people today do not listen unless the message comes wrapped in money, power, status, or approval from the crowd. But truth does not always come from the people sitting at the top. Sometimes truth comes from the people who have been watching, praying, warning, and paying attention while everyone else laughed it off.
For years, I have been saying that this country is being weakened from the inside. Not by one person. Not by one group alone. But by politicians, media voices, and movements that use division as a weapon.
They divide us by race. They divide us by religion. They divide us by gender. They divide us by class. They divide us by sexuality. They divide us by politics. Then they act shocked when the country starts falling apart.
That is not leadership. That is manipulation.
Socialism, communism, Marxism, and all these other political movements that promise equality often end up creating control. They sell people a dream, but what they really want is power. They tell you they are fighting for the poor, fighting for the oppressed, fighting for the forgotten, but too many of them never actually fix anything in our communities. They just keep people angry, dependent, and divided.
And what drives all of it?
Hate.
Hate for your neighbor. Hate for your country. Hate for your family structure. Hate for your faith. Hate for your freedom. Hate for anyone who thinks for themselves.
That is how people are conquered. They are divided first. Then they are weakened. Then they are told to surrender their voice, their faith, their families, their history, their rights, and even their ability to defend themselves.
They push propaganda in front of our faces every day. They go after our children. They soften strong people into people who are afraid to speak. They make people ashamed of common sense, ashamed of faith, ashamed of patriotism, and ashamed of standing up for what is right.
And while all this is happening, too many politicians sit there pretending they care while doing nothing for the people they claim to represent.
At some point, we have to wake up.
This is bigger than politics. This is spiritual too. Evil is real. The devil is not some cartoon character with horns and a pitchfork. Evil shows up through lies, confusion, pride, destruction, corruption, and people who convince you that wrong is right and right is hateful.
You do not have to believe what I believe. That is between you and God. But you only get one life. One. That is it.
So look around the world. Look at what happens when countries give up their freedom. Look at what happens when people trade liberty for promises. Look at what happens when government becomes god and faith gets pushed out of the public square.
God is not mocked. Truth does not stop being truth just because society gets uncomfortable with it.
America is blessed, but blessings can be wasted. Freedom can be lost. A nation can become spoiled, entitled, distracted, and weak if the people forget what made it strong in the first place.
Sometimes, before people wake up, they have to lose what they took for granted.
I do not want that for this country. I do not want that for our communities. I do not want that for our children.
That is why I speak up.
Not because I hate people.
Because I see what is happening.
And I would rather sound the alarm now than stay silent and watch America fall apart later.
But here is the hope.
Tomorrow does not have to be another day of division. Tomorrow can be the day we choose to be Americans again before we are political enemies. Tomorrow can be the day we stop letting outrage influencers, corrupt politicians, foreign ideologies, and media machines tell us who to hate.
America’s 250th birthday should not be remembered as the year we were too divided to celebrate.
It should be remembered as the year we finally realized that liberty is not automatic, unity is not weakness, faith is not shameful, patriotism is not extremism, and the republic is still worth saving.
The fireworks fade.
The work begins.
America’s 250th birthday should have been a unifying national celebration, but political division, anger, and distrust kept too many Americans from standing together under the same flag.
